Nicaragua: The Years That Changed Me

Nicaragua became more than a place I visited—it became part of who I am.

These photographs span the two years I called Nicaragua home, along with memories from the trip I shared with my dad in 2007. They hold dusty roads, unfamiliar cities that became familiar, friendships built across languages, and moments that changed the way I understood faith, family, service, and myself.

At the time, I thought I had gone there to give something.

Looking back, Nicaragua gave far more to me.

Some of these experiences would eventually find their way into Good Slave. The rest live here—in the faces, landscapes, and small, ordinary moments that still feel like another lifetime.
